Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a web site?

A web site is your company's super online brochure where customers can find out about you or your product 24 hours a day.  This may also cut down on the time you spend on the phone answering calls as the most frequently asked questions can be answered on your web site.

Can small businesses profit by having a web site?

Yes!  The best thing about having a professional-looking web site is that it is impossible to tell the size or your company - a well designed web site may help you project an image of a large corporation.

How cost-effective is it?

Very!  Your web site information may be printed by your site's visitors. There's no cost of printing paper brochures or coupons, obtaining address lists, addressing each individual piece and mailing it.  Compare the cost also to yellow page or magazine and newspaper ads - costs which are too high for the average small business owner.

Why not just have ads or brochures?

There are many reasons why - the cost of ads and printed brochures is very much greater than our web site construction fees.  And with people increasingly shopping and researching on the Internet, your chances are greater of being seen by more people, (including internationally).  Also, many times your brochures are thrown away or misplaced, on the Internet you can always be found by your prospective clients.

What is e-commerce?

E-commerce is basically having an online store or catalog. It allows your customers to shop and buy on the Internet from the comfort of their own home.  This is convenient and highly desireable to your customers as it is not necessary to make a special trip to the store (especially with today's busy schedules). It is also convenient to you, the store owner, as it frees you up to better serve your walk-in customers.

Why an online catalogue?

The obvious answer is cost of printing and mailing but there are many other great reasons to consider.  Once 10,000 catalogues have been delivered you cannot change them should there be a required change. An online catalogue can be edited in a matter of hours or even minutes and you no longer receive orders for items that have been discontinued or are out of stock.

How will people find me on the Internet?

A properly listed site is vital for your site to be found through the help of a search engine (such as Yahoo or HotBot). A recent study by PC Magazine stated that there are over 800,000,000 pages on the web, but that the largest search engine only lists 16% of them! To find the remaining 84%, you would need to know their exact web address. Although no one can guarantee that your site will be listed with a specific search engine, we here at Texas Nova do our best to fulfill all of the major search engine requirements to help your site be listed by the major search engines.

In order for your site to be listed in a search engine such as Yahoo, AltaVista, HotBot, etc, your site must be submitted regularly. This is a FREE service we provide to all the web sites we host, find out more.

"Word of mouth" may very well be your most powerful tool, it is important you tell people about your online presence, include your web address on all correspondence, business cards, etc. Mention your URL in chatrooms, newsgroup articles, newspaper ads, and more! In other words: Advertise, Advertise, Advertise!
